CATHERINE ZHONG (they/she), MA, AMFT

I walk alongside my clients through life changes, loss of loved ones, and tensions in relationships in therapy. I aim to be collaborative and relational in my approach to those from all walks of life because I know that relationships can bring pain but also healing. Through this lens, I support those with a range of struggles including anxiety, trauma, grief, infidelity, life transitions, and identity exploration. I enjoy working with those on the margins, especially immigrants, queer/trans and BIPOC folks, and see individuals, couples, and families with teens.

I was raised in Seattle by Chinese parents but have found home in Rogers Park. I attended Northwestern University for my Bachelors and my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I was trained to integrate and adapt the strengths of models like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman methods, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy for clients with diverse identities.

My identities have shaped me to believe in leading with curiosity and respect when I encounter others, especially when in conflict or disagreement. I seek to surround myself with counsel to meet the frictions of the world. If you are looking for a therapist who believes in creating a welcoming and compassionate space, it would be a privilege to accompany you in change.
